Leave Policy – Time Off Without the Drama

1. The Real Talk About Taking Time Off #

Look, we get it. Sometimes you need a break from staring at screens, dealing with clients, or pretending to understand what that one colleague is talking about in meetings. We’re totally cool with that! In fact, we encourage it because nobody wants to work with a zombie version of you.

But hey, we also run a business here, so let’s talk about how this whole “I need a day off” thing works without anyone getting their feelings hurt.

2. Casual Leaves – Your “I Just Can’t Today” Days #

The Deal: You get 16 sweet, sweet paid casual leaves every year. Use them wisely, use them well!

The Money Part: Here’s where it gets interesting – you can actually get cash for half of these leaves!

  • If you’re a workaholic and don’t take ANY leaves, you can cash out 8 of them (that’s 50%)
  • If you take some leaves but still have leftovers, you can cash out whatever’s remaining from your 50% quota
  • Example: You took 10 leaves? You can still cash out 6 more (because 16-10=6, and your max cashout was 8)

The Fine Print:

  • These babies don’t roll over to next year – it’s use ’em or lose ’em (or cash ’em)
  • Max 2 days in a row per month (we’re not running a vacation resort here!)
  • If you start taking leaves every other day, HR might have a little chat with you about “work culture”
  • Joined mid-year? No worries, we’ll calculate your leaves based on how many months you’ll actually be here
  • Planning to sandwich your leave with weekends and holidays? HR might give you the side-eye and say “nice try”
  • New folks get leaves from day one because we’re not monsters

Pro Tip: We actually recommend taking your leaves! Mental health is real, and burnout is not a badge of honor.

3. Sick Leaves – When Your Body Says “Nope” #

The Deal: 14 paid sick days because germs happen, and we’d rather you stay home than share whatever plague you’ve caught.

The Rules:

  • One day sick? Just let us know, we trust you
  • More than one day? We’ll need a doctor’s note (sorry, WebMD doesn’t count)
  • Don’t try to fake it with your cousin who “totally went to medical school” – we can usually tell
  • These don’t carry over either, so if you’re healthy all year, good for you! (But no cash for these ones)

4. Long-Term “Life Happened” Situations  #

Sometimes life throws curveballs – accidents, serious illness, or other major stuff that keeps you away for weeks or months.

Your Options:

  • Work from home if you can manage it (and your doctor says it’s okay)
  • Take unpaid leave until you’re back on your feet

The Honest Truth: If you’re gone for a really long time and work starts piling up in ways that hurt the team, we might have to make some tough decisions. But we’ll make sure you get all your pending salary and benefits first – we’re not heartless!

5. Festival and National Holidays – Party Time!  #

We follow the government calendar for the big holidays, but don’t expect a day off for “National Donut Day” (though we appreciate the sentiment).

Sometimes we might shuffle things around to give you longer weekends during major festivals like Eid – because who doesn’t love a proper holiday break?

6.  Marriage Leave

So, you’re getting hitched? Congrats!  We believe big life moments deserve a little breathing room, so here’s the deal:

  • Eligibility: This is a once-in-a-lifetime leave (seriously, don’t get any ideas).
  • Duration: You get X days off to celebrate, panic, eat cake, and handle all the chaos that comes with weddings.
  • Notice: Let us know in advance—surprise weddings might be fun for you, but not for your team’s calendar.
  • Proof: A wedding card/invite/photo of you in awkward dance moves works just fine.

Go, enjoy your big day—we’ll try not to break the office while you’re away.

7. Maternity Leave – Growing Humans is Hard Work  #

For the Moms-to-Be:

  • Work from home as long as your doctor says it’s safe
  • 2 months of paid maternity leave that you can split however you want (before or after the baby arrives, or a mix)

We know growing a tiny human while trying to work is basically a superhero activity, so we’ve got your back!

8. Paternity Leave – Dads Need Time Too  #

For the New Dads:

  • Up to 10 days of paid paternity leave
  • Because babies are exhausting and moms need support, and you probably haven’t slept in days

9. Remote Work – The “I Need to Adult Today” Option  #

Can’t take a full day off but need to handle some life stuff? Talk to HR about working from home for the day.

Maybe you need to:

  • Wait for the repair guy (because of course they say “between 8 AM and 6 PM”)
  • Handle some important personal business
  • Just need a change of scenery

We’re pretty flexible as long as you’re still getting your work done and not disappearing into the remote work void.

10. The Bottom Line – We’re Not the Fun Police #

Look, all these rules might make us sound like we’re running a military operation, but honestly? We’re just trying to keep things fair for everyone.

What We Actually Want:

  • You to be happy and rested
  • Work to get done without the world ending
  • Nobody to abuse the system and ruin it for everyone else
  • A healthy balance where you can live your life AND help us build something awesome

What We Don’t Want:

  • You working yourself into the ground
  • People taking advantage of our flexibility
  • Anyone feeling like they can’t take time off when they need it

10. How to Actually Request Leave (The Easy Part)  #

  1. Plan Ahead: Give us a heads up when possible (emergencies are obviously different)
  2. Use the System: Submit your request through terms.progressivebyte.com > Leave Request
  3. Talk to Your Manager: Make sure your work is covered or can wait
  4. Get Approval: Wait for the thumbs up before booking that flight
  5. Enjoy Your Time Off: Seriously, don’t check work emails every 5 minutes

11. Questions? We’ve Got Answers!  #

“Can I take all 16 casual leaves in December?” Nope, sorry! Max 2 consecutive days per month, remember?

“What if I’m sick on a weekend?” Sick leave only counts for working days, so weekend sick days don’t eat into your quota.

“Can I cash out my sick leaves too?” Nice try, but no – only casual leaves are eligible for the cash-out party.

“What if there’s a family emergency?” Talk to HR immediately. We’re human beings and understand that sometimes life gets crazy.

Remember: We want you here, happy and productive. Take care of yourself, communicate with us, and let’s build something amazing together!

Still confused? Hit up HR – we promise we don’t bite (much), and we’re here to help make this whole work-life thing actually work for everyone.
